After an awesome market last night I am feeling really excited about the exhibitions in Feb. Yep, that's right! 2.

So today I visited Potters Market then got stuck into the studio. So organised! No excuses now.

Christmas plum jam

This Christmas friends and neighbours will be getting my homemade plum jam to enjoy on hot buttered toast. I'll be taking a jar down south to eat on bread from Tas's bakery and enjoy with the family. Heaven!

Tis the season to be.... very busy!

I was in the Jacaranda Market in Applecross on Saturday. A bit disappointing in terms of sales but great networking and I received some fantastic feedback on my pots. I have been very busy this past month preparing for Jacaranda as well as PSP Christmas exhibition and William St after dark that my friend Louise is in.

Hulbert St Success

Phew! What a huge weekend! This year's Hulbert St Fiesta was a tremendous success. 2 full days of huge crowds, happy people and good sales. We met some wonderful people, got great feedback and I got to spend a full day with my besty! Luxury.

The photos above were taken before I worked out my new camera! They are actually exactly the same gorgeous white procelain as the crisp ones below but I had different lighting when I took the photos.

 

There are a few different prints. It was so interesting to hear people's different preferences. The ones I absolutely love and thought would sell the fastest were sometimes different to what people naturally gravitated towards!

I had lots of people ask where I sell and where I would be next. Nat and I have just decided to do the Jacaranda Festical in Applecross in November. i will upload my market and exhibition page shortly.

New prints for pots

I have been developing some new screen prints for my pots ready for the Hubert St Fiesta by photographing leaves and flowers found in the school garden and my own. These are just test pots for a new midfire glaze that I have mixed and since I have never tried mid fire glaze and there is an excellent chance they won't work out at all, I have photographed them now to remember how nice the prints look.

These guys were made for my nephews Archer and Thomas. Two of my favorite shapes.

Cherries

This bowl was a demo pot for my new potters last term and it was one of those times when I wasn't expecting much from it and it turned out really well. This lesson is confirmed for me time and time again: Don't get too invested! These gorgeous cherries were on spesh yesterday and they taste as wonderful as they look.

Printed pots from last batch

I found a picture from my last batch of pots that has some of my little jugs included. Excuse the very less than professional photo it was taken to show the curators how to display the pots.

Recently I have been taking photos of local plants and leaves and creating riso and photographic silk screen prints from the photos. My plan was to do a load of throwing this weekend but I have allowed my oft hidden inner domestic goddess to shine through and cleaned the studio instead! Better get onto it soon, only 7 weeks until the Sustainability Fiesta.

Felty rattles

Here is my new style felty for littlies. It has a rattle inside and grab-able legs for babies to hold and shake. It also has a squeaker in the ear. Probably not so great for friends with dogs! (sorry Kym, you won't be getting the squeaker version).

New style ceramics

Earlier this year I exhibited in the Art Ed Associations First Love Exhibition and sold some of my new style pots. I have been developing my skills in print on clay and working on some really functional shapes. The most popular are my little jugs, happily for me they all sold; sadly, I didn't get many (any?) photos. But thanks to my new Giffin Grip I will be making more for the next market that I will be in.

Nope, sadly no little jugs pics but here are some serving bowls, butter dishes and beakers.

New Felty Love

Babies, babies, babies!

It has happened. All my friends (and a few of my sisters) are producing delightful and gorgeous bundles of joy. I am a bit jealous and super clucky but very excited for them and also pleased that I have the chance to get felting again! Here are a few of my recent creations. If you would liek to buy one, I have started an Etsy site but not quite got it up and online yet. Sorry! But please email me and I will be very happy to discuss shapes and ideas and give you an idea of price.

Rose Tea experiment

On Friday my friend Kim and I went up to Northbridge to visit a few art exhibitions and have a snoop around. While looking for a small shop up on Brisbane street we found a magical cake shop called Rochelle Adonis and instantly fell in love.

We decided to sample a few goodies and we had some Fiori Rose tea with our cakes. Delish!! So I went for a visit to the Freo markets yesterday where I picked up some dried roses to attempt to make my own.

Unfortunately the roses, while extremely beautiful to look at, have almost no flavour. So I sprinkled some black tea with rose water and dried it slowly in the oven and added some dried rose geramium leaves as well. Not quite as luxurious but a pretty good cuppa until Rochelle Adonis can sell me the real thing.... mmmmm...

After procrastinating for a good few days, I finally got into the studio this weekend and made 7 bowls and 26 herb garden markers shaped like birds. Photos to follow when first lot emerge from the kiln. Less than 6 weeks until the market.......

I Love Melbourne!

I have had the loveliest holiday with my favourite ladies in Melbourne.

I have gallivanted all over the place - all over the city including the Tim Burton Exhibition and Craft Vic and Outre gallery, down Gertrude and up Brunswick streets, then over the weekend I visited 4 craft markets!! I am such a lucky girl. I have pasted some pics below with a few comments.

Some lovely graffiti... I actually took loads of photos for my journal but won't bore you with them here... I am nearly finished my 14th visual journal. I think I might takes some photos for the blog to get my crafty friends inspired to start one. Keep an eye out.

And these lovely snaps are of Cottage Industry, the most dreamy shop on Gertrude Street. Loved their crocheted cushion covers, I am feeling very inspired... watch this space.

Tonight is my last night before I fly home with a head full of crafty ideas. Less than 6 weeks until the York Mill markets so I will be making a craft plan on the plane home and sticking to it!

I have had the best time ever and am very sad to leave... I love Melbourne.

Farmer's Market

School holidays, Hoorah! Yesterday after packing Betsy off with lovely Lena from school, I raced down to the beach house for some R + R with the parents. We got up at the crack of dawn this morning to visit the Vasse Farmer's Market and here are some of the treats that we picked up:

Off to Melbourne in 4 days and shouldn't be stuffing myself with scones and bread slathered in jam and cream but it feels so good to sit here in the sun with a freshly brewed coffee and munch pumpkin bread baked by a real French man! (I am a sucker for an accent...)

Off to collect a new visual journal to taken notes of all the goodies I discover in Melbourne.

Camping in York

Last weekend my lovely friend Kim and I went camping in the sweet little town of York. According to some fellow campers it reached minus 2 degrees over night which might explain the ice on the inside of the van in the morning when we were both too afraid to move from under three doonas. On the Sunday we checked out the Food and Wine Festival and the York Mill where I will be having a stall on September 4 at their first ever Art and Craft Market.

New Style Felty Love

Here is the new felty shape I made this weekend for my step brother Chris' little baby girl. Had a lovely weekend seeing the step family and meeting the new generation. Quite excited to make another one of these little beauties.... any friends having babies that they have not told me about??
